Timing is Everything
Browsing the aisles of one of our local office supply "superstores", I chanced upon an astrology program (cheap), and made the purchase. I've never been one to follow the letter of a horoscope - each individual is unique, and cannot be made to fit into a "blanket" forecast.
I didn't realize how right I was until I began using this program (Expert Astrologer) to create my birth chart. I also found a similar site on the internet (www.alabe.com - the Astrolabe website) where I could "proof" the results of the other program.
Problem was: I don't know what time of day I was born. Indiana has a marvelous way of printing birth certificates - just the bare essentials of individual's name, parents' names, date and city of birth. I couldn't ask my parents, either. Not only are both deceased now, but they weren't there when I entered this life. I am adopted.
I started out with the program using the right dates and locations, choosing midnight as the time, just for kicks. I found a lot of truth in the report, and quite a few contradictions, being that many aspects were on the "cusp". So, I went back and tried again, this time using 3:00 AM and three hour increments throughout the day.
Perhaps because it is a free service, the Astrolabe site kept coming up with the same aspects, in the same terminology. If I agreed to pay for the "full report", things might have looked a bit different at each of the different times. The Expert Astrologer printed vastly different reports, more in keeping with the vastly different Zodiac wheels both programs printed out.
From the reading of the latter reports, I narrowed down that I must've been born between Midnight and 3:00 AM. Was I one to delude myself, I might've picked any hour which reported how "attractive" I was physically, how socially accepted, and so forth. But, I am brutally honest with myself and others, which is just what the midnight report implied. Because of the contradictions, though, I decided to narrow the search, selecting 12:10 AM, 12:20 AM and so forth.
While I may never know the exact time of my birth, without making extensive phone calls and prying into files I really don't wish to read, I now have a rough guestimate that will help me chart my astrological future. Without the aid of computer programs like the ones I used, this never would've been possible for me. If your interests lie in the realm of astrology, it might be wise to invest in such a program. If nothing else, it will confirm the work done the "old fashioned way", or give new insights not previously considered, which is what life's all about - learning.
