Use It Wisely... or Lose It

On all sides, it is possible to see how human beings have gradually destroyed the natural beauty and sustainability of this planet we call home. It is a very important issue for Pagans in the modern age to try to repair or preserve what treasures remain.

Based in southern Indiana, Mardon Soiruk wrote, "Evermoore is an experiment in green energy. We want to compliment the surrounding sanctuaries, such as Odinata, Lothlorien, and Our Haven, We do not want to compete with them. Evermoore Nature Sanctuary at this time is 30 acres of prime woodlands met on all sides by the ever expanding Hoosier National Forrest. Our personal interests are green energy and green technology, which is not just limited to power production workshops but also to living green. Earth based construction and Celss (Closed Ecological Life Support Systems) are also in our interest spectrums."

Admittedly a "rather small operation, just getting started," Soiruk sees such an endeavor as nonetheless a step in the right direction. "What we ideally want to build is Sanctuary. Sanctuary will be a test bed community that will be self sufficient, meaning it supplies all it's own needs, and recycles all it's own waste."

Soiruk coordinates the Wilderness Occult Learning Fraternity, with the website:

On a recent drive through southern Indiana (and in many locations in northern Indiana, for that matter), so much land is for sale - acres and acres. The likelihood, the focus of the real estate agents, is to sell the land at a high profit to developers who will construct housing subdivisions or commercial buildings.

Like we really need more of that, with existing strip malls standing half-vacant in many places.

Worth a look would be for area Pagans to form a small cooperative, incorporate as a non-profit entity, and seek out grant monies to purchase land and preserve it in its natural state. Perhaps start a small organic farm, campground, or other enterprise which might bring in a modest income. But something must be done to keep precious natural landscapes from being destroyed, and our world from being decimated because of greed and "progress".
