The Goddess 2000 Project:
A Year of Sharing and Adventure, A Future of Possibility
Since very early this year I have had the privilege of being part of the Goddess 2000
project. This Project, originally brought about by the efforts of Abby Willowroot, has
spread across the country and around the world. The idea is simply stated as "A
Goddess on Every Block". We have been sharing ideas and results on making
sculptures, quilts, tarot decks, books of poetry, just about anything where we can
honor Goddess. It's been fun, and I have learned alot from those participating.
My first project was creating a portfolio of drawings done in oil pastels. There are various images created after meditating on Goddess and letting the juices flow of themselves. I also participated in the creation of a volume of poetry called "She of 10,000 Names". My contribution was an invocation to Vesta. I also contributed a small snippet to The Blessed Bee, a Pagan Parenting newsletter put out by the same folks as Sagewoman magazine. I'm hoping to use one of my drawings in a tarot deck created by the same folks who do the Daily Goddess email newsletter. One of the big projects has been the creation of a ritual called "Dancing the Goddess Home". It's a Spiral Dance to be done for winter solstice all over the world as a gift to She who is Mother of Us All. I include an outline of the ritual for those who might be interested in joining me in doing this.
As you can see, it has had a lot of input from many Pagan leaders, and the actual ritual looks wonderful. Those who would like to learn more are free to go to www.goddess2000.org and check it out. We do plan on continuing the Goddess 2000 activities into next year, and with luck maybe the idea will spread until there really is a Goddess on Every Block!
Another unrelated activity has been helping publicize and prepare for the Goddess 2000 festival, which is next June in California. My biggest job has been getting the word out and moderating an email list created for those either involved in the festival or interested in attending so that we may communicate freely. A flier for the festival has been included with this edition of Goat and Candle so that those who don't have net access can learn about it. If you're interested after looking it over, feel free to email me at tinnekke@dancingink.com or come ask me at PNO. I'm always there.
Until next time...
