One Woman's Search for Truth and Happiness
Several years ago, while perusing my undergraduate degree in Art History, I had a life altering experience. At the time, I had already been a solitary practitioner of Witchcraft, though I had not uncovered the path that resonated with my sense of Truth. It was during a class on Minoan civilization, however, that the universe delivered a wonderful gift to me. In that brief period of time, I was reintroduced to a civilization I knew well. I suddenly understood the language and art of the Goddess, without having to be told, and I retraced my footsteps along with those who revered her. This, as I came to understand later, was the beginning of the road to my personal sense of Truth.
Through research, and further understanding, came happiness. I wanted to share this sense of happiness with others; help them to understand how to access their personal sense of Truth and to allow this to dictate their daily actions. With help from the energies that are closest to me, (some may refer to these as Spirit Guides, Ancestors, Faeries, or any number of labels; I have come to know them simply as Pete and Mejik) I was able to write my recent book, Islands of the Soul: A Guide to Personal Truth and Happiness to assist other on their quest.
Islands of the Soul offers itself to the reader as a teaching tool. It was not written to explain what each of us should be doing, but rather how to access that part of our selves that helps us to know what we need in order to be fulfilled. As Wiccans and Pagans it is sometimes easier to reach this point because we have come to it freely. We have made our own choices and called in the universe to assist us when necessary. But too many individuals do not believe that they are in control of their own lives. They do not understand what it is to be happy. Many are living a false sense of happiness or following a path that is clearly not suited for them, simply because they do not know how to break free of this.
I have counseled many clients, through my practice in Past Life Intuitive Counseling, who have mentioned that although they are not satisfied with their current lifestyle, religious or spiritual practice, relationships, etc. they fear the loss of security that they might encounter should they choose to follow another path. They are so far out of touch with the part of themselves that guides their inner sense of Truth and happiness, that they feel they will never be able to reach it. Trust, in the universe, to deliver, is beyond their comprehension. Yet, by supplying them with the necessary tools, and allowing them to find their personal path, they can once again gain access to the remotest regions of their souls.
I believe that we, as Wiccans, Pagans, or those who follow the path of the Goddess under other labels, can benefit greatly from Islands of the Soul. For those who have already set foot on their personal journey to true happiness, the book can act as a manual to aid you as you teach others what it is to live their personal Truth. And for those who have not yet found their path, the book will teach you how to recognize and honor the Truth within you.
Through the sacred words of Pete and Mejik, entities who have brought their timeless wisdom to this world, secrets long forgotten are once again revealed. Islands of the Soul employs visualizations, meditations, and ancient teachings meant to connect us with the seven Islands within us; Quality, Love, Knowledge, Beauty, Balance, Perception, and Nothingness. It is a guide to the regions of our selves that we too often ignore, yet desperately yearn to find. We are taught, or perhaps validated in our way of thinking, that we alone have the power to manifest our dreams and wishes. As practitioners of the Craft we should know this, but our daily romp with society too often drains us (at least a little) of our inner support system. But once we choose to access our Islands, or to help others gain access to their own, we create a pathway beyond the realm of fear or exhaustion. What we create is a wonderful pathway to the Divine within.
